EXCERPT

“How did my car get here?” I said.
“I arranged it,” he replied.
He looked straight ahead, seemingly fascinated with the one-car garage on my small cottage-style house before he looked at me. “I would like to make a promise to you, Nya,” he said, his gaze intense, almost unnervingly so.
“Promise?” I asked, gaping as I stared at him. I was worried about my life, and he was offering me a promise?
“Yeah. A promise. No harm will come to you. I won’t allow it,” he said.
The fierceness of his voice, the look in his eyes, made me want to believe him, made me believe him, even though I had no reason to, even though everything told me I shouldn’t. I tried to hold to common sense, ignore that illogical yet tantalizing desire to trust him.
“I’m just supposed to accept that?” I said, searching his eyes, unwilling to give in to the easy trust that seemed so out of place.
“Whether you accept it or not is unimportant. It’s true,” he said.
“Why?”
“Why what?” he asked.
He’d spoken quickly, but I sensed something in the question, could see that he wanted to avoid answering what we both obviously knew was the topic at hand.
“Why are you going out of your way for me?” I asked, deciding to put the question on the table.
“I’m not going out of my way for you,” he said.
The gruffness of the words, the way he wielded them almost like a weapon should have put me off, but they rang hollow to me. It would be stupid to allow myself to read into them, let myself think they meant something that they didn’t, couldn’t. But somehow I knew no matter what he said, despite his cavalier attitude, he felt something for me.
That something might simply be obligation, but I was still buoyed by it. Comforted in some small way.
“So why?” I asked.
The intensity in his eyes grew, became almost an inferno. “I’m a Murphy. I protect what’s mine.”
I was too stunned to respond, but the implication of what he’d said was clear. And, disturbingly, welcome. To belong to Patrick, be his…
My body was instantly inflamed.
Fortunately, Patrick didn’t linger, but instead got out, rounded the car, lifted me from the passenger seat, and deposited me inside the house. He pressed my key into the palm of my hand and then gave me my purse.
He held my gaze for a long moment, but then he left without saying a word.
I closed the door, but stood behind it, listening as Patrick drove off, fighting against the near-instant sadness, the emptiness I felt without him.

Release Day Blast ~ FRACTURED SILENCE by Carrie Ann Ryan

 fs-teaser1

Carrie Ann Ryan's FRACTURED SILENCE is available now! Get your hands on Parker, Brandon, and Avery's story today - you definitely don't want to miss this next book in the Talon Pack series!

It’s war and not everyone makes it out alive...

Fractured Silence (1)

 About FRACTURED

SILENCE

The Talon Pack continues with a dark secret that could shatter the future of the Packs, or save them all.
Parker Jamenson is the son of three Packs, the sole mediator between every Pack in the United States and Europe, and…he’s dying. He knows he doesn’t have much left in him and is in desperate need of a mate. But with the new and unyielding changes thanks to the Moon Goddess, he might not have as much time as he thinks.
Brandon Brentwood is the Omega of the Talon Pack and the youngest of his family. He’s not only one of the famed triplets; he’s also the most secretive. There’s a good reason for that, however, and when a shocking revelation meshes the past and present in a very unexpected way, he’ll look to not only Parker but also a disgraced human to save them all.
Avery Montag knows she’s the daughter of a traitor and doesn’t have much to give the wolves in the way of atonement. But she’ll do everything she can to pay for her father’s sins and find a way to end the war between the humans and the wolves.
When the three turn to each other in a time of unrest and for vastly different reasons, temptation burns and seduction beckons. Only, the past, present, and future are never as solid as they seem, and the path the trio thought to travel may just vanish before they’re ready.

Get a Sneak Peek at FRACTURED SILENCE

Avery had always been good at keeping secrets. It was one of the things she’d learned to do as a child, barely able to write sentences. She’d known from a young age that the moment her father knew the truth about her, he’d find a way to silence her the same way he’d ended her mother’s life.
So she’d never spoken aloud who she was, what she could do.
Soon, she knew she wouldn’t be able to hold it back any longer. Because the new Pack threads were slowly weaving their way around her soul, and there would be no hiding what lay beneath her shields once the Alpha and his family understood what they’d brought into their Pack.
She wasn’t dangerous, but she wasn’t normal either. She’d known that the moment she spoke to the Talons, her life would be forever altered. She’d known that one day, she would become wolf and run on four paws. She’d share her soul with another being and learn to become something that had once only lived in fairy tale books and the nightmares of those who didn’t understand.
She’d seen it.
Yet she hadn’t known how it would happen.
Nor had she known why she’d seen the vision. She’d never once seen her own future when her mind lost control and she was forced to see what hadn’t yet come to pass.
But for some reason, this vision had come to her, and she’d known it was more important than any of the others she’d had.
Now, she stood under the full moon, the wind in her hair, and fear almost too much to deal with. But the moon’s rays covered her like a well worn blanket and she felt like she could breathe again. Maybe. Parker stood by her side, his hand on hers, and she tried not to lean into his touch like she wanted to. Before the attack, she’d been attracted to not only Parker but Brandon, as well. And now, whatever was going on between the three of them only seemed to intensify.
Her senses were overwhelmed by the scent of them, of the trees, the sky, the birds. Everything seemed so loud and bright, and she couldn’t quite focus. Maybe she’d be able to deal over time, but right now, it was all too much.

If someone took everything you live for, how far would you go to get it back?

When a faulty time machine deposits Diego at the top of a pine tree, he knows he's in the wrong place--but has no idea he's in the wrong time. Naked and shivering in the chilly mountain air, he attempts to climb down, but slips, whacks his head, and falls into oblivion.

He wakes up inside a darkened room, crippled and disheartened, and must come to grips with the realization that he is marooned in a bleak alternate future. In this universe, what remains of the human race is trapped inside a handful of aging biodomes. With his mission failed, his world destroyed, and the one woman he loves, dead, he can find no reason to go on living.

But Lani, the emotionally scarred doctor who finds him, refuses to let him die, and as Diego heals, their relationship becomes... complicated. He struggles to let go of the past but is unable to get Isabel out of his head--or his heart. Just when it seems he may be able to find some measure of happiness in a world teetering on the edge of extinction...

Another note arrives from the future: Isabel is alive--but not for long...

April 15th 2017 by Rocky Mountain Press

If someone took everything you live for, how far would you go to get it back?

From award-winning author D. L. ORTON comes book three in the Between Two Evils series...

Shannon fights to stay alive inside a rogue biodome and discovers something totally unexpected... Peter. Lani is forced into the role of the reluctant heroine but rediscovers her street-kid mojo and sets out to find everything she's lost. Diego receives another dirty sock (and a note) from the poorly aimed fireball express: "The window between universes is closing." If Diego has any hope of getting back to Iz, he must get to the Magic Kingdom and power up the time machine before it's too late.

What could possibly go wrong?

The Journey Is the Reward

In my mind, Isabel and Diego are ordinary people thrown into extraordinary circumstances.

Women today have more life choices than ever before (as do men!) Marriage? Career? Motherhood? If a woman chooses to have children, there are even more hard decisions: stay-at-home, work part-time, pay for a nanny, find daycare, support a stay-at-home spouse?

Having options is good, but here's the rub: At least in my universe, it's NOT possible to "have it all." Time spent building a career is time away from children and spouse, and years spent raising the sort of children you’re proud of, equals lost opportunities for promotions and raises at work. No one wants to choose between a sick child and an important interview, but anyone who's tried to balance work and family has had to do just that. There's no escaping the "what if I could go back and do things differently" self-doubts—at least not for me.

Isabel made different life choices than I did, but she struggles with the same questions, the same worries, the same hopes and dreams. I think we are all our own worst enemies. Isabel's worst enemy just happens to be a bit more tangible: a younger version of herself.

Diego is NOT a rich, powerful, manipulative Alpha with a helicopter and a riding crop, nor is he a gorgeous, super-human vampire who sparkles in the sun. Nevertheless, his love for Isabel is a driving force in his life, and when required, he finds the strength to do amazing things.

Look around you, the world is full of ordinary people who step up and do heroic things when disaster strikes.

What's the moral of the story? Don't take the ones you love for granted. They could disappear at any moment—and time machines are pretty hard to come by. Put your arms around someone you care about and just enjoy the moment. The journey is the reward.

Release Blitz ~ Turning Back by JA Huss #Giveaway

Title: Turning Back
Series: Turning #2
Author: JA Huss
Genre: Dark Erotic Suspense
Release Date: April 12, 2017

Blurb

I lived in the dark for three years. My whole world revolved around the whims and happiness of three men. It was just a trip into the forbidden. A way out of a bad situation and forward into nothingness.

Quin, with his easy smile and charming good looks. He was always there for me... Until he wasn’t.

Smith, and his dispassionate attention. He was never there for me and he never regretted it.

Bric, the one who listened, but only to himself. Self-absorbed, self-obsessed, and self-serving. He was never the one I wanted.

And now he might be the only one I have left.

It was good while it lasted, I guess. But it could’ve been so much more. It could’ve been so much better.

And that’s why I’m turning back.

Excerpt

“So then what happened?” Bric asks.
We’re sitting at our booth in the White Room. Before I left, I’d sit in the middle of the bench, Quin would sit across from me in a chair, and Bric would sit to my left.
Bric is still to my left, Quin isn’t here yet—if he’s coming at all—and Adley is in her baby seat on my right.
Everything is familiar—but off.
“Then he went to bed.”
“What’d you do?”
“I sat there on the couch for a while trying to figure out what happened.”
“What did you come up with?” Bric is looking very intently at me. Like everything I’m saying is critically important.
“He hate-fucked me, that’s what I came up with, Bric!”
“Rochelle,” Bric says, throwing me one of those Don’t overreact looks.
“I’m serious. There’s no other explanation for it. He hate-fucked me. Revenge fuck. Whatever you want to call it. That’s what happened last night.” I sigh and try not to feel depressed and sad. “And then this morning I got out of bed to go check on Adley when she woke up, and when I came back, he was gone.”
“Gone?” Bric asks. “Where’d he go?”
“Just left,” I say. “I texted him. Asked if he’d be here for breakfast. And he never texted back.”
“He’s just mad,” Bric says.
“I know.” I huff. “He told me that last night too. He spelled it out very clearly. He was worried about me. Sad about my leaving. But then when I came back—”
“Now he’s just angry.”
“Right.”
“It’s a pretty typical reaction,” Bric says.
“I realize that. Which is why I’m not going to make a big deal about this. But I don’t know if this is going to work, Bric. He might not want me. He might just want to hurt me. Exactly the way I hurt him.”
“No,” Bric says, like I’m being ridiculous.
“I’m not being ridiculous,” I say. “Maybe he’s not out to hurt me. But he’s doing something, Bric. He’s playing a game, but I’m pretty sure we’re not all playing the same game.”
“He’s mad, Rochelle. You have to expect that. He’s gonna come around.”
“What does that mean? Come around? Do you really think he’s gonna fall back in love with me the way he was? Because I don’t. I think he’s here for us. Me, you, and him together. And that’s all.”
Bric rubs his hand across his scratchy jaw as he thinks this over, so I check on Adley. She fell asleep in the car on the way over here and hasn’t woken up yet. Bric is still thinking.
“I don’t want an us, Bric.”
He looks me in the eye and says. “I do. But I get it. And I’m fine with you and Quin getting your little happy ending. But I’m telling you, Rochelle, he’s just trying to protect himself right now and the best way to let him work that out and ensure you two get back together is to have an us.”
“He said he doesn’t trust me.”
“He has a good reason,” Bric counters.
“I know that,” I say, starting to get angry. “I understand that. But the whole point of us doing this… game… or whatever it is, was so that you can help me figure this out. I want him, Bric. You’re supposed to help me.”
But as soon as the words come out of my mouth I realize how stupid that is. I trust no one and I have very good reasons for that. I’ve learned over the course of my life that people are selfish. People are out for themselves. People are liars. I have a lot of experience in being lied to.
Elias Bricman definitely fits all those assumptions I have about people. And then some.
