BlindSided tells the story of Lexi Archer, an eighteen-year-old woman who wakes up in a hospital bed, handcuffed to the rail, and realizes she doesn’t remember what happened the night before.
After being released from the hospital, Lexi’s transferred to the Milwaukee County Jail, where she’s informed about her pending charges for first-degree murder.
Intent on proving she’s innocent, Lexi places a phone call to her stepsister asking for her help. As Lexi gets closer to the truth, she unravels ugly secrets about her dead mother that will change her life forever.

Before long, September had rolled around, and the new school session had begun. Dad kept his
word and let me stay with Aunt Tammy during the school week. On the weekends, just like
before, Friday through Monday morning, I was at his house.
Although I’d ignored Dad’s concerns about my aunt, it didn’t occur to me that the ones
dovetailing with the hate he had for my mother would soon make me regret that I had made a
different decision. It didn’t take long for my aunt’s personality, which soon mimicked that of my
mother, to rear its ugly head. The only difference was the heightened emotions, and verbal
abuse Aunt Tammy heaped on me; began to take a toll.
I could never do anything right. I didn’t eat the proper food. I was gaining too much weight.
Chores Aunt Tammy assigned me, and she’d follow me, catching a speck of dust on the wood
trim or an oil streak in the saucepan that I missed.
Her demands messed with my emotions. The constant stomach pain I endured lasted for
days at a time.
The hope of being asked to the upcoming dance numbed the feeling of my twisted gut.
Every girl wanted to be asked out by one of the athletes, no matter their status. Me, I can’t lie
and say that I didn’t wish guys drooled over me the way they did all the “fun” girls. My ordeal
left me with a constant craving for escape.
